L’INCOMPLÉTUDE
A reflection on absence, life and mortality.
Incomplétude n. 1. the state or condition of what is incomplete. 2. a sad, thoughtful feeling which often comes from experiences with abandon, absence, neglect, loss or death. 3. characterised by chronic phases of melancholia and a heavy sense of emptiness.
Synonyms and related words:
absence, broken thread, deficiency, deprivation, derelict, disconnection, dissatisfaction, emptiness, immaturity, imperfection, impurity, lack, loneliness, melancholy, need, solitude, starvation, want, without.
‘L’incomplétude’ focuses on absence, and how it has shaped my vision of the world and dictated my artistic choices. It is a biographical work using fragments of incompleteness to create a visual representation of an internal struggle.
Playing inspirational music has provided me with the necessary tension and sometimes the extra support to reach out to the darkest corners. Exploring both the source and the effects of l’incomplétude has been a physical and emotional process from which I have been able to extract a sense of truth and identity. Through darkness, I bring light to my own life and find a reason to be.
